Summer Flowers

There have been so many colorful flowers this summer I thought I’d share these pictures. Some are from my garden and others are from walks I’ve taken. It’s also been a wonderful year for hydrangeas – I’ve seen them with pink, blue and white blossoms. Flowers are part of what makes summer so memorable…

Hydrangeas in June

This spring has been a wonderful time for bright, colorful flowers. A few days ago the hydrangeas in my front yard started to bloom. Last year they mostly produced leaves, but now there are flowers like this.

Some are blue and some are almost blue…

It’s been an lovely year for flowers!

An Ice Cream Adventure

“Here’s your ice cream.  Eat it outside.”

Meggie takes the cone.

She wanders into the backyard garden filled with lavender,

butterflies and hydrangeas.

Hummingbirds zigzag.

Ice cream starts dripping.

A bumblebee chases her.

Safe!

Meggie should eat the

melting ice cream.

Then she sees a chipmunk.

A new adventure begins.

This is a story I wrote earlier this year where the limit was 50 words. Although it’s about Meggie it’s definitely fiction – she would never let her ice cream melt!

Walking in Williamsburg

It’s a lovely day for a walk in Colonial Williamsburg to see flowers, buildings, and shops that are currently open. The tree-lined sidewalks provide enough shade to stay cool.

Flowers are in bloom everywhere!

It’s interesting to look at the shop displays.

This is a charming place to walk any time of the year!

A Walk in May

I thought the beginning of May was a perfect time to visit a park that has flowers, benches and even a fountain. Here’s the view from the entrance.

I walked to the fountain first.

If I followed these paths there were benches, fresh greenery and flowers.

Here’s a closeup of some azaleas.

It was a perfect day for a walk and a look at the colorful flowers. Spring has arrived!

April Flowers and Showers

It looks like April is for showers AND flowers. After some rain a few days ago there are new places to see flowers. Here is a forsythia that’s in bloom in my backyard. The yellow flowers seem even brighter compared to the trees that still don’t have any leaves. It’s wonderful to share a picture I’ve just taken!

Flowers in Spring

After a long winter the first spring flowers are back! This daffodil is from my garden and it was delightful to see its bright cheery color.

These violets were in the yard (but not the garden) so I suppose they should be dug out or mowed. However I think I’ll leave them alone for now – they’re so colorful.

More flowers are getting ready to bloom, and I say the sooner the better!

Daffodils and early daylilies, tulips and hydrangeas (and oak leaves)
