A Grand Canyon Walk

My parents talked about taking a family vacation to the Grand Canyon when I was ten. Although that trip didn’t work out I never forgot about going there and finally went for a visit a couple of years ago. It was as rugged and spectacular as I had imagined.

As I walked (slowly) on one of the trails I got passed by many hikers, but that was fine because my objective was to look around and take lots of pictures. When I passed the Bright Angel Trail and saw all the groups starting off on their adventures I thought about following them. But after a few steps on the steep and narrow path I decided the Rim Trail was enough of a challenge!  

By staying on a wider trail I could safely admire the views and find places to take photos.  These were more scenes from that day.

My Grand Canyon visit was unforgettable and worth the long wait!

Flowers with a View

Flowers are charming on their own, but some flowers have the distinction (and advantage) of being set in different places in Italy with remarkable views. Here are some examples.

Something about Doors

Meggie first became interested in doors after she read the Chronicles of Narnia series. After reading about the connection between doors and adventures, she began to wonder what might happen if she went through a mysterious (or even ordinary looking) door. Could she simply walk into another world? This was quite an intriguing possibility and she started thinking about doors differently. Her interest became more pronounced when she started to travel. There were fascinating doors everywhere!

Some of Meggie’s favorite doors have smaller people-sized doors inside of impressively large ones.

Some doors open up to potentially unsafe landings if you walk through them.

Which door to take? She still imagines that an exciting adventure might begin when she walks through…

Autumn Scenery

It’s starting to get colder and the outdoor scenery is really changing. Taking a morning walk requires a little more preparation now – a light jacket, maybe a scarf, and a pair of gloves. Stepping outside and feeling the brisk air really wakes you up! Here are some views from sidewalks and paths that show that it is suddenly the middle of autumn. The seasons change so quickly.

It is still chilly and a hot chocolate would be a good way to warm up – maybe later…

The walk is almost complete when a bright pop of color appears, but these leaves are on the ground, not on trees. It’s part of the fun of walking because you get to see unexpected things like this.
